RE: fifth wheel electrical connector

My 04 GM manual lists the following:
Yellow: Left stop/turn
Dark green: Right stop/turn
Brown: Taillamps
White: Ground
Light Green: Back-up lamps
Light blue: CHMSL (Stop)
Red: Battery feed
Dark blue: Trailer Brakes
Your 07 should be the same, but look in the manual under trailer wiring harness

RE: Which vent to put the fan in??

Reguardless of where the fan is located, you can control the cooling be the windows. Our previous unit had the fan in the living area. While we were in that area, we opened windows there. At night, closed those and opened the bedroom windows. It pulled in just as much fresh air into the bedroom is if the fan was right there. Our current trailer has the fan in the bath. Same thing - just open windows where we want the cool air.

RE: 04 Chevy Silverado 12v power to TT

When the truck was new, the required fuse was taped to the brake wiring pigtail folded up in the glove box.

In the fuse box under the hood - driver's side. Look for the fuse labeled "Stud#1" There will be a red or orange dummy fuse that you have to replace.

RE: DVD Recorder with Hard Drive

I recently got a Magnavox H2080MW8 and it has an 80 gig hard drive. Walmart has it on line - not in stores. I think they also had a model with a 160 gig drive.

RE: dvd with digital tuner

I recently purchased a Magnavox H2080MW8 unit. It has both digital and analog tuners. It will record to a DVD or to the 80 gig hard drive. The hard drive will hold over 30 hrs of recording. It must be connected to the TV with audio/video cables so be sure your TV has the proper input jacks (yellow, red, white jacks). I needed to study the manual to figure out how to operate, but seems fairly easy now. This is my first DVD recorded so don't know if others are easier or harder to operate. I ordered it online from Wal-Mart for $188.

RE: Any Pack-Rats out there?

If you look in the closet and find two boxes, one labeled "string" and one labeled "string too short to save" then you might be a pack-rat.

RE: water heater drain

Atwood plugs may pose some proplems since they are Metric sized. Use a 22MM deep socket and you will be good to go.
Fred
Actually it is 1/2" pipe thread with 7/8" hex. A 22mm will work since it is only .009" different from 7/8.

RE: Cold hot water shower

Water heaters which have a three valve bypass system do not have any check valves at the heater. With these, when you turn off the shower head you have a closed loop through the faucet, pipes, and the water heater. Under this condition you can have thermosiphoning. Hot water will tend to rise. Which way it circulates depends on the routing of the lines. My unit may put hot water in the cold line and yours might put cold water in the hot line. If you get a blast of hot, a check valve in the cold line near the faucet would stop it. If you get a cold blast, a check valve in the hot line would stop it.

RE: Chevy 1500 or 2500

Along with other considerations in your short bed/ long bed decision remember the short bed has a smaller fuel tank. For some this is a problem.

RE: Suburban Anode rod question.

Pipe threads are tapered and get tight before bottoming out. They are not supposed to go all the way to the last thread.

RE: Need help with busted water line!!!!!

Is it possible to easily access the busted line in front of the break and also behind it? If so it may be possible to cut the line at those points and pull a new one all the way through the area with out actually getting into where the break is located.

RE: Erratic Hot Water Heater

Some antifreeze may have gotten into the water heater. That will cause it to foam until a lot of flushing gets it all out. There may be a bad connection in the wiring or the thermostat may be going bad. Check all the electric connections in the heating circuit. Look for any sign of heating or arcing at the connections. Also check the connections at the circuit breaker panel - both hot and neutral.

RE: Parallel cables for Honda Gen: What's the difference here?

The cheaper one has a TT- 30 receptacle which your RV plug will fit. The other has NEMA L5- 30 which requires a twist lock plug.

RE: Analog to Digital Transition FAQ - Draft

Good job pulsar. I don't want to complicate things for those who like to keep it simple so they can ignore this, but I learned one additional thing. When I first connected mine I used the antenna cable method and was pleased with the much improved picture quality. Today I connected the converter box to the TV using audio/video cables. The picture quality improved even more. If the TV has a/v inputs, the improvement is worthwhile.

GM Oil Life System

The question often comes up as to how the GM change oil light determines when a change is needed. Here is a link to an explanation of how it works.

RE: changing antifree on Chevy 8.1-

Not sure about that one, but on my GM car it was 1/4 inch square recess in the fitting. I used a 1/4 inch ratchet to open it. It only turns about 1/4 turn then it pulls outward with pliers. To close, just push in and turn.

RE: White gunk in water heater

Simple chemistry. Calcium carbonate - the common mineral in hard water is more soluble in cold water than in hot water. When hard water is heated, the calcium carbonate precipitates out. Those old enough to remember heating water in a teakettle had the same problem. Every so often you had to heat vinegar in it to remove the scale.

When you look at the glove box label you will find one of the following codes:

GT5 = 4.10
